The FINA swimmimg championships included a substantial cultural programme, including our immersive and dynamic lighting art installation.
Calling on our background in theatre lighting design, Megafun delivered a public artwork at Birrarung Marr to complement the other public art that formed a component of the cultural programme for the 2007 FINA World Swimming Championships in Melbourne.
Operating every night of the event, the installation sat below the Federation Bells and created a light environment in the immediate area, animating the grounds, gardens and trees to a playlist of music with a water theme.
People walking between Federation Square and the sports precinct would often engage with the installation, dancing, jumping and running in time with the music or the changing patterns.
